So often in the news, the world is full of depressing, saddening, heart-breaking stories. Life itself can be that way too, but it can also be beautiful and amazing and miraculous. I got this email from my Mom this morning, and as it was one of those “good stories” I thought I should share it:
“Yesterday while driving home, I ran into some really bad weather. White knuckle driving. The radio station was interrupted with that real loud repeating emergency warning, rain was whipping across the road so you could barely make out the road, tractors trailers pulled over, and I kept going because I was almost home. Watching trees bow to the wind and hearing a loud roaring sound over the sound of the radio, I thought of the huge dead pine tree behind the barn and sent a quick prayer to God not to let it come down and hurt any thing. When I got safely home I JUST AS QUICKLY FORGOT about my prayer; the wind and rain stopped. This morning at first light when I went out to feed the horses before work, I was in for an unbelievable surprise! Little horses all lined up, looking for breakfast – and there was the tree. . . . . it had broken off about half way up, somehow flew over the barn, and slammed into the paddock in front of the barn, breaking apart on impact, digging two foot deep holes into the ground, and then somehow stacking up tree trunk pieces and assorted broken branches all in a pile just like some giant hand had laid a fire. Not one pony, fence post, tack room, storeroom, stall, or for that matter neighbor or neighbor’s home been touched. I cannot not describe how I FELT STANDING THERE……thinking how could this have happened this way???? Isn’t it funny how when we see miracles, we immediately begin to doubt that this is an answered prayer and just assume coincidence rather than giving GOD the glory? I choose to believe. Love, Mom”
I am grateful that her prayer was answered, but I’m just as happy to have a mother who is a daily testament to faith.
